George Violettas

PhD in Network Control & Security for the Internet of Things

About me

Dr. George Violettas holds a PhD in Network Control and Security of the Internet of Things, and an M.Sc. in Applied Informatics from the University of Macedonia, Greece. He further holds a 4-year B.Sc. in Computer Science from the Hellenic (Greek) Open University. He was a senior research fellow for four Horizon 2020 European projects.

He is currently the deputy manager of the R&D department, and the EU funded projects manager for SYSGO GmbH, Frankfurt, Germany.

He has been delivering courses for more than 15 years in Universities, Vocational Institutes & Colleges. He also worked for more than 20 years in the ICT industry as a CIO, R&D Officer, Project Manager, Software Engineer, and ICT Consultant for European Companies.

George was an assistant professor with Alfaisal University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and a Horizon Europe senior proposal writer for EFMC, all over Europe. He has been the Head of the ICT Department and a senior lecturer in Technical Trainers College for GIZ, Germany and for Lincoln College Group, an adjunct lecturer for business courses on a Master’s level, and an ICT Security consultant all over the Gulf.

His scientific interests are focused in the areas of IoT devices and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) in Software-Defined Networks (SDN), and IoT security & cryptography over (Edge) Cloud infrastructure, where he has several scientific publications.
