About me
Dr. George Violettas is currently the deputy manager of the R&D department and the funded projects manager for SYSGO GmbH, Frankfurt, Germany.
Apart from the execution of funded projects at both European and National levels, his expertise encompasses staff management, pursuing new opportunities, monitoring trends and emerging technologies, and conducting applied research (e.g., cloud/edge computing, IoT, quantum cryptography, containerization). He is adept at leading teams, fostering innovation, and ensuring the successful completion of complex projects while staying at the forefront of industry advancements.
George holds a PhD in Network Control and Security of the Internet of Things, and an M.Sc. in Applied Informatics from the University of Macedonia, Greece. He further holds a 4-year B.Sc. in Computer Science from the Hellenic (Greek) Open University. He was a senior research fellow for four Horizon 2020 European projects.
He worked for more than 20 years in the ICT industry as a CIO, R&D Officer, Project Manager, Software Engineer, and ICT Consultant for European Companies. He has also been a tetriary educator for more than 15 years in Universities, Vocational Institutes & Colleges.
George was an assistant professor with Alfaisal University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has been the Head of the ICT Department and a senior lecturer in Technical Trainers College for GIZ, Germany, and for Lincoln College Group, an adjunct lecturer for business courses on a Master’s level, and an ICT Security consultant all over the Gulf. He was also a Horizon Europe senior proposal writer for EFMC, all over Europe.
His scientific interests are focused in the areas of IoT devices and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) in Software-Defined Networks (SDN), and IoT security & cryptography over (Edge) Cloud infrastructure, where he has several scientific publications.
